Dr Anna Graham conferred a Doctorate
31 October, 2006
Dr Anna Graham joined Corbans Viticulture as the Research and Development Manager in 2005 to conduct her third major research project for the company. She has been working on research projects for the company since 2000.
Anna has a BSc in biochemistry and a MSc (First Class Honours) in food science and was conferred with a Doctorate in 2006. Her doctoral thesis examined the relative performance of different varieties of grafted vines in terms of grading loss.
Three years’ testing and field trials for her PhD project showed that there were a number of causes, including naturally occurring but harmful fungal infections and dehydration in the first few weeks after planting. Her earlier MSc project examined the affect of carbohydrates in rootstock on budburst and graft formation.
Anna is currently working on a new project that looks at new methods to minimise naturally occurring, harmful fungal infections on cuttings and one-year-old grafted vines.
